Gone Too Soon But Never Forgotten

Bumps, Pal, Dad, Fatman, Daddio, and Grumpy. He was a man of many names to his family, and even more to his friends.

With a love for life and a twinkle in his eye, Peter could light up a room and a conversation. A lover of Dad Jokes and general mischief, he was quick to make a quip or sneak a sly look, even if it didn’t quite land the expected response. But there would always be a chuckle (even if only at his own expense) and he would always be there laughing along with it.

He enjoyed his days of 9-5 and spent the weekends doing what he loved most - lying on the sofa watching sport and recovering from the time spent with the wife, kids, and grandkids earlier that day. You would find him raising a glass with friends and patrons down the local at weekends (and likely chancing a quick one or two pints during the week too), and his voice and guitar strings could usually be heard at Open Mic on Thursday nights. His singing would ring into your ears, and sometimes leave them ringing too! But he had a quiet confidence that we all envied and a jukebox of songs in his head that always played on shuffle.

His spark lit the fire of his family, and his warmth and light radiated to his friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. He was the centre of our orbit, and his gravitational pull kept his family close, even when he just wanted a bit of “private time”. He leaves a deep hole in our hearts, but his memory fuels a sparkle in our eyes that will never burn out. He is much loved and will always be remembered.
